Olá,
What is up? This week has been an ok week. We have found a few potential investigators that we are going to try to work with. So, one day we decide to go knocking doors during dead hours (2-4 in the afternoon no one is outside or in their houses). So, we go to this apartment building and walk in because the door in open. We go up to the top floor and it´s a pretty nice building. We knock the only door on that floor and a 20 or so yeare old guy opens the door. And he says "Hey guys! What´s up?" So, Elder Greenland, in shock, says "Como está?" and the guys says "Tudo bem, but I speak English!". Haha, So we start talking and he´s from California and his name is Kamani and he is here in Guimarães playing soccer for the city team. And his girlfriend is from Brazil but grew up in California. So, he let us in and we talked to them a little about our message and everything, but we didn´t have an English Book of Mormon, and we are still waiting to get one to give it to them, but luckily she reads Portuguese so we left a Portuguese one.
Then, the next day we went out contacting and we decide to contact this one guy we saw. So we start talking to him and then he asked if we speak English and we said yes. So, he´s Portuguese, but his family lived in Australia for most of his life and we left him some stuff, but he said he wants all the stuff in English haha.
And yesterday we were knocking doors on Easter, because no one was on the streets all day. And we knock on someone´s door and he answers and we start talking and then he askes if we speak English and of course we said yes. Well, it turns out he´s from Columbia, studied in Boston, where he learned English, and now has a job in Portugal. And with our luck we didn´t have a Book of Mormon in Spanish to give him, so we have to wait til Saturday when he has more time.
But man we have been running into English speakers left and right here haha bit it´s good. It makes it a lot easier to teach people and express out true feelings.
But I love you guys and miss you. Keep the letters coming and pictures.
Love,
Elder Spencer Jensen

hey everyone,
what is up? Not much has been going on here in Guimarães. We are just trying to find the elect and teach them. haha But it´s fun and I meet all sorts of weird people here in Portugal. I guess that´s what happens when you have a dictator for 40 years and runs the country into the ground haha But they are making a semi comback.
So, we had dinner with a member family. It was the parents and their nonmember friends, the member´s daughter and her nonmember husband. So we get there and no one is really talking to us. And their nonmember friends are drinking alcohol provided by the members, so they are getting drunk. And I wasn´t too hungry because of the heat all day, so I didn´t eat too much, but she kept asking if I was hungry but I would take a little more until I could not eat anymore. So they bring out desert and it´s some cholocate pudding kinda stuff. we take a bite of it and it has coffee in it. So I asked if it had coffee in it and they said yes but it was decaff. Which is another thing members have wrong, it´s not the caffeine in the stuff that makes it bad. So I said we wouldn´t eat it because it had coffee. And they started talking about us but they were talking fast so I didn´t understand it all. But they kept eating it right in front of us. And the member lady looked really pissed at me and angry. And they made us hurry through the lesson, and the Spirit wasn´t there and I could barely speak Portuguese and it was just bad. And then their drunks friends wanted to take us home... But luckily the member drove us home. But yeah I don´t think we are going to get invited over there anymore haha.
Anyways I love and miss you guys. Keep sending letters and photos of the kids. And make sure they don´t forget who I am.
Love,
Elder Spencer Jensen

Hey everyone,
What is up? Well i am just here in a city called Guimarães. Apparently, this is the first city the Portuguese ever controlled. It has a huge castle and a mansion. It has a few really old churches and is in a very hilly green location. It is a really pretty city and I like it. My companion is Elder Greenland from my district in the MTC. We have a very tiny branch here in the city with avout 20 active and 119 inactive members. So, there is a lot of work to do. And we have been contacting a lot of jovens (young people) to try to keep the branch alive because they are all old. But it´s a pretty place but the people always seem to be in a hurry here. But we already have gotten a bunch of potentials in only three days so that is good.
Not much else to say, haven´t been here long enough for anything really weird or awesome to happen. But the Portuguese are a weird people and I am sure by next week something will have happened.
I love and miss you guys a lot.
Love,
Elder Spencer Jensen
