well for thanksgiving we had an awesome devotional in the morning. Elder Jeffrey R. Holland came and talked to us about some of the things he was thankful for. it was one of the most powerful talks i have ever listened to. he spoke about how the atonement was such a great blessing. I'm sending a letter about it to mom and dad and I'll have them write more about it because i don't have that much time. thanks for all your letters. i love reading them. send me more food ha ha we eat it all too fast. please send mt dew, Doritos, jerky, Reece's and anything you can :) i really appreciate them and they make my day so much better :) send me a list of every ones emails please :) the language is coming well and the next couple weeks we'll only be speaking in Portuguese. it will be intense but I'm glad that i get to learn this. it is such a blessing and it is so much fun. hope all you guys are well and keep having the grand kids send letters. they are the best and they give me a morale boost. well not much else to say haha love you guys

Goodbye Spencer
Tuesday night we ate dinner at Red Robin (Spencer's choice) then went to the church so Spencer could be set apart. Pres. Jones gave him a wonderful blessing and made Spencer many great promiss if he keeps the commandments. Which I know he will. We then went home and finished packing and all went to bed. Up at 6:00 and loaded up and left at 7:00 a.m. It is hard to believe he will be gone for 2 years but Pres. Monson in the last conference restated how each young, worthy man should serve a mission. Spencer has always done what he should and I have no doubt he will be a great missionary.
We got to the M.T.C. at 12:00 p.m. They directed us down a long roadway where several missionaries were waiting. They welcomed him enthusiastically as Mom was trying to get pictures and hug Spencer, as was I. They had him unloaded and gone before we could turn around. It was quite a welcome. We anxiously await his first letter to see how he is doing.
